Medical Driving Evaluations

Collaboration with Doctors, Hospitals and Other Healthcare Providers

How often do your patients ask you "Am I OK to drive?" Your answer may have been "it's up to you" or "ask your therapist" or "talk to your family about it." Now, you can confidently answer "Let's get a driving evaluation and make sure." The Next Street's Driver Rehabilitation Services works with patients whose ability to drive safely has been affected by their medical condition. We work in close partnership with referring physicians and rehabilitation facilities to help patients navigate their future behind the wheel. Every case is unique, so we treat it as such, and work to get to each patient's capabilities to safely drive. If you work with patients that have a change in their cognitive, physical or visual abilities, we can help them return to the driver seat and the independence of driving.

About Our Assessments

We work with patients that have had a change in health to determine how this may affect their ability to drive. Following a doctor referral, we complete a 60-120 minute clinical assessment to judge things like reaction time, visual capabilities, judgement and physical abilities. If the patient shows the needed abilities to operate a motor vehicle, we will move on to a driving assessment. These are completed in our modified, handicap accessible vehicles. Following the driving assessment, our Certified Driving Rehab Specialists will make a recommendation about the client’s future on the road.
